ABOUT US
The Campbell lab investigates the spatiotemporal ecology of vector borne and zoonotic disease systems with the environment across multiple scales. We have a strong focus on medically important arthropod vectors, and work to quantify and predict distributions, abundances, and functional connectivity of vector species across dynamic environmental conditions. We use a variety of tools to investigate these questions, including geographic information systems, remotely-sensed satellite imagery, and data science approaches to work with large data sets. We draw from analytical methods and theory developed in the fields of distributional ecology, disease ecology, and landscape genetics. Our work is interdisciplinary, incorporating biological and ecological knowledge about vector borne and zoonotic disease systems with quantitative spatiotemporal modeling approaches using surveillance and remotely-sensed environmental data.
